Location: SOLU
Join us for a screening of the short film Diorama and a following artist talk with director Ellen Bjerborn. Ellen was an artist in residence at Kilpisjärvi Biological Station via Bioart Society's ARS Bioarctica residency in 2024. The residency culminated in a 15 minute artist film - Diorama (2026).
With Kilpijsärvi Biological Station lacated in Gilbbesjávri, in the sub-arctic as a base, Diorama looks at how the field of biology quantifies nature into numbers and data, abstracting it into diagrams and symbols. We follow the Keeper, the caretaker of the land, as the film moves in a range of the "natural" from fermenting in primordial juices to taxidermied animals forever petrified.
The screening will be followed by a talk and informal discussion with Ellen Bjerborn. Light refreshments will be served.
Ellen Bjerborn is a media artist b. 1995 in Malmö, Sweden. Her artistic practice hunkers under three ominous forces; nature, technology and spirituality. Through film and video she moves closer to these obscured powers that loom over the human experience. Since 2024 she has worked with art in an expanded field of participation and community.
She holds a BFA in industrial design from Parsons School of Design, NYC.
