Alyssa Coffin

A Coffin (Alyssa Coffin) is an interdisciplinary artist from the USA, based in Helsinki, Finland. She has a master's in Time and Space Arts from the Academy of Fine Arts, Helsinki. Her work, currently funded by Kone Foundation, includes writing, spoken word, performance/ritual, moving image, primal handicraft and site-responsive structures. She collaborates with animate materials from the land to create structures for the body to remerge and be in dialogue with the earth and Creator spirit. Her practice pursues relationship with land by grounding in attention, silence, and sensory embodied engagement. She explores spiritual sustainability, the reciprocity between the inner landscape of the human soul and the external landscape of the planet, and ideas of indigeneity and home/belonging.
