Jean-Danton Laffert

Jean-Danton Laffert is a visual artist and educator, born in Chile and living in the Netherlands. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts Education, a Master's degree in Audiovisual Arts from the University of Chile and a Master F.A. Ecology Futures from the St. Joost School of the Arts, the Netherlands.

His work encompasses the intersections of art, science, and ecology through mixed-media installations that integrate light, space, electronic systems, and living matter. Jean Danton explores a hybrid aesthetic between the digital and the organic as biointerfaces, seeking to reflect on biopolitic, technosocial and methaphisic themes. His creative method emerges from a collaborative process, in constant dialogue with diverse specialists such as scientists, designers, artists, and humanists. Jean has taught at universities and schools, as well as been a research artist at the University of Chile's FabLab. Some of his major exhibitions and conferences include the 2019 Electronic Arts Festival (AT), the Museum of Contemporary Art of Santiago and Valdivia (CL), the Santa Mónica Art Center and Atelier Güell (ES), and the Cube Art Project (USA), among others.
