Maria Leskinen

Maria Leskinen is a Finnish artist, illustrator and art teacher educated as an art and psychology teacher, master of arts. She lives in Finland and in Brazil. Leskinen studied scientific illustration at the University of Brasília between 2022-2023. Leskinen works with the theme of nature that she sees through her own life and the cultures around her. She considers how we adapt to changes in life and nature and how we act in these situations. How inequality among people is particularly evident in natural disasters. Despite the challenging topics it is important for her to reveal hope and empathy. Leskinen works with pencil drawings, aquarelles, gouache and digital tools. She enjoys narrative surrealism as a style which she combines with modern times phenomenons when making art. Leskinen shows her art internationally. Two of her works are in the collection of the University of Brasília and she has works in private collections in various countries.
