Noora Sandgren
Noora Sandgren is a visual artist and art educator, working with photography and its bendings, installation, texts and performative elements. In her artistic research she is interested in the inter- and intra-action of different materialities and their lively agencies within shared space. Sandgren´s site sensitive processes include slowness, observation and foraging. Home garden in Hiidenvesi is where she collaborates with different weathers; wind, rain, snow, plants and outdated light sensitive material. At times the sun draws an image of her breath, other times an image of shared chemistry and material cycle is built by compost microbes, the decomposing agents. These cameraless photographs are traces of the processes of becoming-with and touch, which always rests on the other.
Sandgren graduated with MA in Photography from Aalto University, where she also studied in the MA programme of Art Education. She holds a BA in Social Psychology at the University of Helsinki. Sandgren´s art has been shown in various solo and group exhibitions in Finland and internationally. She participates in residencies and interdisciplinary projects such as the High Altitude Bioprospecting (HAB) group. She also works in community and pubic art, pedagogical contexts and curating. Sandgren is part of the Harakka artist´s association and a board member of Bioart Society and the Photographic Artist´s Association.
