
Tarja Tella
Tarja Maritta Tella is visual artist, painter, photographer and community Artist. Tella lives in Eastern Finland in Joensuu. Tella is a member of Finnish Painters’ Union and Bioart Society and studied Art Education in North Karelia College of Applied Arts, major studies in Fine Arts/Painting in 1991-1995 and North Karelia University of Applied Sciences in Fine Arts, Visual Arts/Painting, BA, 1996-1997. Tella is also a Psychiatric Nurse and a work coach .
Tella’s artistic work focuses on painting, drawing, photographs and social cases: dialogues between human beings but also with nature and other surroundings. Tella believes a painting process is an emotional and physical case and a single painting can be a part of interaction, like a subject. Tella has long been committed to protecting nature, forests and animals and is a member of Greenpeace. Tella also supports social and indigenous movements for example those across Sápmi, the United States and Northern Russia.
