Lau Kaker is an artist and curator from Belgium based in Helsinki, Finland, working with projects exploring the collective and fictional meaning of home, shaped by their research on the concept of belonging. They'll dedicate their time in Japan to their ongoing research on interspecies communication revolving around the indigo color tradition.

Aaro Murphy is an installation artist working with sound, scent, animation, and glass. Murphy will dedicate his residency to researching urban scents found in Japan, aiming to create a library of materials and smells synonymous with the city.

The Bioart Society is calling for Finnish artists or artists based in Finland to apply for a one month art & science research residency in Tokyo, Japan, in autumn-winter 2022. The residency will be hosted by BioClub Tokyo in partnership with the Finnish Institute in Japan.

Johanna Rotko is a visual artist working with living materials, mainly with different yeasts. During her residency she will focus on researching colored yeast species that are used in traditional fermentation processes in the Japanese kitchen.
